District K - Ontario

You must be a member in good standing to stand for office or to vote. If anyone is interested nominations will be accepted from the floor.

Rules:
1. No person shall be nominated for any office in the Legion unless present or signified in writing a willingness to accept such office. (1004, pg 65)

2. No member who is a full time, regular part time or elect to work employee of any Branch who receives directly or indirectly any salary or wages for or on account of any service rendered to the Branch shall be eligible to “hold” any Executive position in the Branch. Any employee as defined in this section, who is successful in his bid for office, must resign his paid position before his term of office can commence. (section 405 (1), pg 50)

3. Only Life, Ordinary, Associate and Affiliate Voting members, in “Good Standing” (initiated paid-up members not under suspension), shall have the right to vote or hold office at any level of the Legion. Meritorious Life members shall have the right to vote at Branch level only. (section 401, pg 49)

4. In order to qualify for election to the Branch executive committee, the candidate must be a member in “Good Standing” for the year in which the election is held and have held membership in the Branch for a period of one year prior to the date of the election meeting. (section 404 (1), pg 49)

5. In order to qualify for election to President or Vice-president, a member must be in "Good Standing" for the year in which the election is held and have served at least one term on the Branch Executive committee. (section 403, pg 49)

The 1st place winners of all the Royal Canadian Legion Zones within District K will now be competing at the District K Public Speaking Event to be held on April 2nd, 2016 at 1:00 pm in Hearst, Ontario at the Legion Hall. The winners of the District K competition will then move on to compete at the Provincial Level. All are welcome to come and support our youth.

The 1st place Youth Public Speaking winners from the Legions of Hearst, Hornepayne, Kapuskasing, Smooth Rock Falls and Cochrane will now be competing at the Zone K4 Public Speaking to be held on March 5th, 2016 at 1:00 pm. The winners of the Zone competition will then move on to compete at the District Level on April 2nd, 2016 at 1:00pm. Both events are taking place in Hearst at the Legion Hall. All are welcome to come and support our youth.

Les gagnants de 1ère place du concours oratoire en public de les Légions de Hearst, Hornepayne, Kapuskasing, Smooth Rock Falls et Cochrane seront en compétition au concours oratoire en public de la Zone K4 qui se tiendra le 5 Mars 2016 au 13:00 . Les gagnants du concours de la Zone K4 passeront ensuite à rivaliser au niveau du District , le 2 Avril 2016 au 13:00 . Ces deux événements se déroulent à Hearst à la salle de la Légion . Tous sont invités à venir encourager nos jeunes .

Come and join us for the Public Speaking Contest this Tuesday which is part of the Legion's Youth and Education program. It's purpose is to give young people an opportunity to speak in public. The individual chooses their own subject matter for the address.

Venez nous rejoindre pour le concours oratoire ce mardi qui fait partie du programme de la jeunesse et de l'éducation de la Légion . Son but est de donner aux jeunes l'occasion de parler en public. L'individu choisit son propre sujet pour l'adresse.

Sortez du froid et venez vous réchauffer avec un café chaud , un petit déjeuner et des sourires chaleureux au Brunch du Carnaval à la Légion.

The parade will begin forming on the Hearst Legion grounds at 10:15 am and leaving for the Arts Council Building on 9th St. at 10:30 am in which the ceremonies should begin around 10:45 am.

Le défilé débutera à former sur le terrain de la Légion de Hearst à 10h15 et de partir pour le bâtiment du Conseil des Arts sur la 9ième rue à 10h30, dans lequel les cérémonies devraient commencer autour de 10h45 .
